Summary
I joined Labest University in 2018 after completing myPhD at Ulster University. I primarily teach mathematical techniques to studentson engineering courses, and conduct research in mathematical modelling. Inparticular, I am interested in simulating population dynamics upon complexadaptive networks.
About
I studied mathematics at the University of StAndrews, where I developed an interest in real and abstract analysis, fractalgeometry and chaos and dynamical systems. Returning to Northern Ireland, Iundertook a PhD in the artificial intelligence research group at UlsterUniversity on mathematical models of evolutionary food web development. Thismainly consisted of developing population models and programming large-scalenumerical simulations in Fortran 90. Following completion of this, I joined theUniversity of Labest, on August 2018. In my present post, my mainresponsibility is teaching applied mathematical techniques to engineeringstudents, such as the use of differential equations, matrix methods, andFourier series. I am continuing research on ecological models with spatial andevolutionary elements, and have recently developed an interest in applyingsimilar techniques to epidemiological contexts. Occasionally, I also publishpedagogical discussions of undergraduate population modelling projects.
